Attacks on Queer and Trans Communities: A Joint Statement

To close out Pride Month, queer and trans Coloradans faced two devastating attacks on their dignity and rights.
- Here in Colorado, the Colorado Republican Party sent out a fundraising email filled with blatant anti-LGBTQ bigotry.
- Nationwide, the extremist U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling that stripped queer and trans people of the same public protections guaranteed to other Americans.
These assaults on equality come from the same playbook of lies, defamation, and fearmongering that drive MAGA extremism. The Colorado Republican Party and the MAGA-aligned Supreme Court have made their intentions clear: they would rather fuel hate and division than protect freedom, safety, and dignity for all Americans.
The Cost of Hate Over Solutions

At a time when Americans face real struggles — from the rising cost of living to a post-COVID economy and an intensifying climate crisis — Republicans are choosing to attack LGBTQ+ communities instead of offering real policy solutions.
The world that MAGA extremists envision is one where:
- Queer kids live in fear of being outed, bullied, and harmed.
- Trans youth are denied the right to live authentically, risking their lives to violence, despair, or a broken justice system.
This vision is dangerous, hateful, and un-American.
Our Commitment to Queer and Trans Coloradans
The Colorado Democratic Party and the Stonewall Democrats of Colorado will never back down in the fight for equality. We remain steadfast in our commitment to:
- Protect the rights of queer and trans Coloradans.
- Reject hateful rhetoric and discriminatory policies.
- Develop real solutions to the challenges facing Colorado families.
We call on all Coloradans, regardless of party affiliation, to stand united against scapegoating and extremist lies. Together, we can build a Colorado where every person, including queer and trans communities, is safe, respected, and free.
Signed,
The Colorado Democratic Party
The Stonewall Democrats of Colorado
